Minutes from meeting 30.09.14.

The minutes from the PhD forum on 30.09.14. was presented and approved.

News from the study administration:

In 2014: Two meetings in the PhD forum. Three PhD defences (Johanna Hovinen, Jeff Holmes and Daniel Vogedes).

In 2015: Planning on 10 PhD defences.

Since last meeting, four new PhD candidates are welcomed at UNIS:

 Ylva Ericson (AGF-dept)

 Wesley Farnsworth (AG-dept)

 Maja Karoline Hatlebakk (AB-dept)

 Matteo Petit Bon who is soon to arrive (AB-dept)

News from the mainland universities UiT; BFE-faculty

 New contact person for admission, and new web pages.

UiT; NT-faculty

 New contact persons. Deadline for progress reports: 1 February.

NMBU

 New contact person, new PhD regulations and new web pages.

NTNU

 Deadline for progress reports postponed to June.

Ingrid Vinje: “Rights and duties of UNIS PhD candidates”

Ingrid Vinje (HR) informed, and led an informative discussion regarding i.e.

 Differences in employment contracts between permanent staff and PhD candidates

 Housing

 Leaves / prolongation of contract period

 Travel / vacations

 Pension rights

If there are issues to address, the PhD candidates are encouraged to address this as a group in writing to the UNIS leadership.

Next meeting

Next PhD forum is planned in April 2015.
