The minutes from the PhD forum on 21.05.14. was presented and approved.

News from the study administration:

Two new PhD candidates since last meeting

 Liyuan Chi (AT-dept) and Graham Gilbert (AG-dept) – welcome  Two new PhD defences since last meeting

 Johanna Hovinen (AB-dept) at UiT 23.06.14.

 Jeff Holmes (AGF-dept) at UiO 29.08.14.

One more PhD defence is planned this autumn

 Daniel Vogedes (AB-dept) at UiT. The defence will take place at UNIS. Preliminary date: 19.11.14.

Best student paper prize of the 22^nd International Symposium on Ice

 Renat Yulmetov (AT-dept) and Sveinung Løset: “Kinematic Characteristics of Sea Ice and Iceberg Drift in the Greenland Sea”

Eike Stübner’s article draft “Common strangers – A year-round study of meroplankton in an Arctic fjord (Adventfjorden, Svalbard)” was discussed.
