News from the study administration
We are planning to create web-pages for PhD students and supervisors on our UNIS webpages.
This will hopefully be done in near future.
Please remember to send copies of your admission letters, PhD contracts and other correspondence with the mainland universities to Anne, for registrational purposes.
If you are on sick leave, maturnity leave or other kinds of leaves, or need prolongation of your PhD period, remember to apply to the mainland universities. Please send a copy to Anne for registration.
News from the mainland universities
UiO: All trial lectures and public defenses must be held at UiO.
NTNU (Faculty of Engineering Science and Technology) has made a new web-page with all forms and templates. This is found at http://www.ntnu.edu/ivt/phd/forms
UiT: New PhD regulations in force by 01.01.13. These are found at
http://uit.no/ansatte/organisasjon/artikkel?p_document_id=324228&p_dimension_id=88163&p_m enu=28713 (Norwegian), and
http://uit.no/Content/327454/Ph%20d%20-forskrift%202012%20-%20engelsk.pdf (English) The new regulations will apply to all PhD-students, also those admitted before 2013. An important
change is that master courses can no longer be part of the training component (cf. § 15). However, if the candidates already have an approved plan for their training component, this will still be valid.
New supplementary regulations will be in force by 01.04.13. These are not yet published online.
How can we use this group in the best possible way?
Introduce new PhDs to the PhDs – get to know each other and each other’s projects
Share common frustrations – keep an open eye on each other, and hopefully prevent dissatisfaction and dropouts
Celebrate great events, like accepted papers etc.
Administrative matters from the study administration / mainland universities
Invite speakers to address common issues, e.g.
o Writing software / citation software o EndNote
o Cristin
o Academic writing o Routines at the logistics
o “My way to a PhD” – practical issues
Address common issues to the leader group / board, e.g. the housing situation
IT - Poster printer – can some PhD’s learn how to use it, and help out others?
Organizing of the meetings
Meetings will be held about every second month.
Short minutes will be written. The minutes, presentations and other things will be placed in a folder named PhD forum found here: V:\Admin\STUDADM\PhD administrasjon\Interne phd\PhD forum
