Mid-term evaluation is now mandatory
No defined fields of study within the PhD programme. All are PhD students in natural sciences (not PhD in biology, geology etc.)

o BFE-faculty: When you submit your dissertation, the latest revision of the project description should also be included.
o BFE-faculty: Trial lectures and dissertations should normally be live streamed.
Streaming of PhD defenses
Based on a question in the last PhD forum regarding the possibility to have live streaming of defenses at the Norwegian universities, Anne has asked the universities about their routines in this respect.
Nord University: Streaming of all PhD defences. Link to live streaming in the calendar at www.nord.no
UiT (BFE-faculty): Streaming of all PhD defences and trial lectures, if the candidate feels comfortable with it.
UiB and NMBU: No routine for live streaming, but can sometimes be arranged locally upon request.
No answer from UiO and NTNU.
UNIS PhD web pages
We have finally made our own PhD pages on the UNIS web pages; https://www.unis.no/phd- resources/ . These can be accessed directly from the intranet (“PhD resources” in the left menu), or by searching for “PhD” on the internet pages.
Here you can find an overview of all current PhD students, list of all finished UNIS PhDs from 2012 onwards, administrative routines, link to the PhD pages at the Norwegian universities, as well as minutes and presentations from PhD forum meetings.
Anne will appreciate comments and feedback on the web pages.
Evaluation of PHI401 Research Ethics and Philosophy of Science
The course was arranged at UNIS in march 2018. Six PhD students passed the course. Since Katie was the only participant represented at the meeting, an evaluation form will be sent out by e-mail.
The PhD forum recommends that the course is arranged again at UNIS in two years (2020).
Inger Lise Næss: Social media for scientists Inger Lise’s presentation is found on the web pages.
