O presente estudo obteve como perfil genotípico das cepas de H. pylori na amostra estudada de Fortaleza as seguintes frequências: 47,6% de cepas tnpA; 2,0% de tnpB; 12,9% de cagM. O gene tnpA foi o mais presente no gênero masculino e de maior prevalência nas duas faixas etária estudada; no entanto, não se observou associação estatística do gene com tais variáveis. O gene tnpA apresentou uma associação negativa com o câncer gástrico; enquanto apresentou associação significativa com a úlcera duodenal. O gene tnpB foi o de menor prevalência e, consequentemente, não apresentou associação com nenhuma variável (gênero, idade, afecções gástricas e outros genes). O gene cagM foi o segundo mais prevalente em todas as afecções gástricas; e assim como o tnpA, apresentaram associação significativa com úlcera duodenal. Concluiu-se que os genes tnpA, cagM estão associados ao risco maior de 3,5 e 3,2 vezes, respectivamente de desenvolver úlceras pépticas; sugerindo tais genes como bons marcadores genéticos para a úlcera péptica nas amostras coletadas na cidade de Fortaleza.
