A Hepatite C no NEF apresenta uma taxa de prevalência de 4,96%, dos quais 13,2% são cirróticos. Genótipo 1 e bilirrubina maior que 1,3 mg% na consulta inicial apresentaram associação positiva e a condição de doador de sangue e de atleta profissional apresentaram associa protetora ao diagnóstico de cirrose. A frequência de diabetes mellitus foi 8,78% e esteve associada à idade maior que 35 anos e à mortalidade. A taxa de carcinoma hepatocelular foi estimada em 5,45%. A mortalidade nos pacientes com hepatite C foi de 4,10%.

A taxa de abandono de acompanhamento foi de 67.5%

Os dados sinalizam que portadores de hepatite C, cirróticos e diabéticos suscitam atenção especial e nestas situações o screening para carcinoma hepatocelular talvez necessite de TC.

Verificou-se uma necessidade de se planejar estratégias para melhorar o acesso e diminuir a perda de acompanhamento desses pacientes.
