O objetivo desta questão foi verificar, a partir de um excerto de texto lido previamente, quais palavras (ou expressões) comportam em si noção de tempo (time schema). Para a 1ª coleta, o enunciado da questão foi assim apresentado:

Na identificação dos informantes, as letras R e E referem-se, respectivamente, aos cursos de Radiologia e Engenharia, nos quais encontravam-se matriculados. O
informante R1 considerou que, no excerto do texto 1, não havia expressões que, em si, davam idéia de tempo Presente ou Passado, mas considerou que a expressão
next ten years sugere idéia de Futuro. Já o informante E1 considerou que, no
excerto, havia expressões que sugerem os três tempos, sendo que sun power offers
a vision of hope and a plan estaria relacionado com o tempo presente, the long journey estaria relacionado ao passado, e a expressão within the next ten years
referir-se-ia ao futuro. A segmentação das expressões foi feita pelos próprios informantes e foram computadas no Quadro 15 tal qual se apresentaram.
De acordo com os 37 informantes, as expressões que se referem ao presente, em ordem decrescente de ocorrência, são apresentadas na Tabela 4.

A Tabela 8 mostra que o sintagma long journey aparece em 13 das 26 ocorrências. Isso sugere que, na ausência de verbo, o sintagma nominal tem maior probabilidade de trazer consigo um time schema.

O conteúdo da Tabela 14 só foi possível ser detectado na 2ª coleta, já que, a partir de uma lista prévia de expressões, os informantes tinham a liberdade de assinalar mais de uma noção de tempo para uma mesma expressão ou, ainda, não assinalar nenhum tempo para alguma expressão. Foi o caso da palavra within que, segundo 75% dos informantes, não lhes remetem a nenhuma noção de tempo. Houve expressões que, fora de contexto, foram consideradas como sinalizadoras de dois tempos. Tais expressões encontram-se na Tabela 15, a seguir.
