4.5 Testing procedure

Os extratos aquosos ricos em polissacarídeos obtidos de mandacaru são ricos em galactose, manose e glicose e apresentam traços de ácido glucurônico. Apresentaram atividade antioxidante por serem capazes de doar elétrons e quelar cobre e possuem atividade citotóxica frente a linhagem celular tumoral de rim 786 (contra células tumorais de rins.) Neste caso, o extrato MCP60 foi mais potente, já demonstrando atividade com 0,5 mg/mL, além disso, ele não apresentou citotoxicidade contra células normais de rins até uma concentração de 1 mg/mL.
