O vírus fixo CVS e o isolado do morcego L. ega, inoculados em hamsters e camundongos, apresentaram comportamento biológico compatível com o descrito na literatura para o vírus da raiva.

O isolado de L. ega produziu raiva furiosa em hamsters e camundongos, enquanto que o vírus CVS causou raiva paralítica.

O isolado de L. ega conseguiu provocar raiva em hamsters e camundongos, quando inoculados pela via intramuscular e intranasal, apresentando comportamento biológico diferente em relação ao vírus CVS, caracterizado por uma menor mortalidade.

Com o vírus CVS, a via de inoculação intranasal produziu períodos de incubação e clínicos mais prolongados.

Pelos estudos filogenéticos do Gene N e G, o isolado de L. ega está relacionado com outras linhagens procedentes de morcegos do gênero Lassiurus das Américas e que pertence ao Genótipo 1.

Com o isolado do L. ega, as principais substituções foram encontradas na sequencia de aminoácidos da glicoproteína G envolvendo os sitios antigênicos AI, AII e no domínio de fusão dependente do baixo pH, enquanto que o vírus CVS não apresentou semelhantes alterações.
