1. As condições empregadas para estocagem de cepas de Candida spp. não alteraram a expressão da resistência aos antifúngicos.
2. O farnesol exibiu atividade antifúngica, in vitro, contra as 45 cepas de Candida spp. testadas, sendo a espécie Candida parapsilosis a que apresentou os menores valores de CIM.
3. O efeito inibitório in vitro do farnesol frente a Candida spp. foi potencializado pela combinação com os derivados azólicos, anfotericina B e caspofungina.
4. A pré-exposição de cepas de Candida spp. ao farnesol causou a reversão da resistência aos antifúngicos.
5. O farnesol alterou a expressão da enzima fosfolipase em cepas de Candida spp. de origem humana e animal, embora não tenha exercido nenhum efeito sobre a expressão da enzima protease nesses isolados.

A partir dos dados obtidos nesta pesquisa, torna-se de grande importância investigar a influência da exposição a doses sub-inibitórias de farnesol em Candida spp. sobre as concentrações de ergosterol e quitina na célula fúngica, bem como a expressão dos genes
