A presente pesquisa apontou evidências sobre a eficácia da EIBI no aumento estatisticamente significante do QI em 16 dos 23 estudos analisados. Além disso, foi encontrada melhora, estatisticamente significante, na linguagem e no comportamento adaptativo em, respectivamente, 7 dos 16 estudos e 12 dos 18 estudos que avaliaram estes domínios em crianças com TEA.
Entretanto, a rigidez metodológica dos estudos não pôde ser considerada adequada, já que grande parte deles não contou com grupo controle ou a intervenção de comparação era do tipo eclético e sem comprovação científica sobre a eficácia. Ao mesmo tempo, em que a maioria das amostras foi considerada pequena (menor que 40 participantes), a intensidade da intervenção variava demasiadamente e a qualidade e controle de intervenções concomitantes não eram adequados.
Assim, as principais recomendações desta dissertação são: a realização de novos estudos que investiguem as técnicas comportamentais de maior eficácia; criação de novos estudos experimentais com amostra maiores para confirmar definitivamente a eficácia da EIBI e a formulação de novas propostas de intervenções comportamentais para crianças com TEA para serem aplicadas no sistema público de saúde.
Estudos e intervenções realizadas no sistema público de saúde neste campo são de grande importância para ampliar o conhecimento e proporcionar o desenvolvimento de propostas mais eficazes para indivíduos com TEA. Assim como, estudos nacionais com desenho experimental de intervenções comportamentais para TEA são praticamente inexistentes e bastante recomendados.
