REDD+SCIENCE+GOVERNANCE:

Opportunities and Challenges Post-graduate course

Wageningen, 10-13 April 2012

The post-graduate course REDD+SCIENCE+GOVERNANCE: Opportunities and Challenges provides post-graduates (PhD candidates) an opportunity to expand their knowledge and understanding of REDD+ issues. The course will use an interdisciplinary approach to cover current debates and challenges faced by the design and implementation of REDD+.

Participants from all over the world will interact and discuss, and learn from high-level experts with different scientific backgrounds. The post-graduate course provides a mix of theory and practice, and will focus on current REDD+ debates and the actual implementation of REDD+ activities. A broad range of cutting-edge topics will be covered from both the natural and social science perspective such as: REDD+ governance; monitoring, reporting and verification of REDD+; co-benefits and safeguards in REDD+; REDD+ in relation to forest management; and REDD+ finance and economics.

The post-graduate course is organised by Wageningen University and Research Centre (WUR) and will be held in Wageningen, The Netherlands, from 10 to 13 April 2012. The course is an initiative by the recently established interdisciplinary REDD@WUR network that facilitates the exchange of research related to REDD+.
