(1)* Developing Fire reduction strategy for Miombo woodlands as a Potential tool for Carbon storage and Sequestration (Seif Madoffe, Gimbage Mbeyale, Eliakimu Zahabu, Josiah Katani, Emma Liwenga, Beatrice Christopher and Fred Midtgaard) Economic evaluation of incremental biomass under PFM and its potential as a management incentive under REDD initiatives in Tanzania (Leopold Lusambo, Yonika Ngaga, John Kessy, Jumanne Abdallah, Stepheno Kingazi, Felista Mombo, Greyson Nyamoga, John Lupala, Fred Midtgaard) Quantification of carbon stock changes under different forest tenure and their implication on livelihood and governance in Miombo woodland (Seif Madoffe, Dos Santos Silayo, Josiah Katani, James Lyimo, Tuli Msuya, Fred Midtgaard) Modelling scenarios of REDD+ in response to regulation of population, agricultural, woodfuel and settlement dynamics in Tanzania (Emmanuel Nzunda, Emmanuel Luoga, Fred Midtgaard).

(5) * Our plots are all in the East of TZ. For unknown. reasons our proposals for the West have been turned down * Lack of coordination centrally means that few plots can be used for more than one project * Bad link to, or use of, existing plots * Sometimes not good enough involvement of the Norwegian side on the execution of methods – particularly regarding statistics (only for pure project work). *.

(6) * The general picture of carbon stock indicated that early burning is better for carbon storage than late burning or no burning. The lack of fire reduction strategy overrides the dynamics of forest stand structure and the potential for carbon sequestration by these forests as wildfires appear to be critical across the study area. There is dire need for a comprehensive strategy to reducing forest fires across the miombo biomes which together will help mitigate climate change impacts in Tanzania.. *.

(7) * I dont know about any TZ PhD or master students not. directly involved from the Norwegian side. Will try to get that info when I go there now) * I should have been more involved in methods/statistics when implementing the field plans (NOT the PhD plans but project field work) * Easy access to funds during PhD students field work should be a key in the next stage. TZ account offices works too slow. Field work for PhD students should be funded from the Norwegian side. * One trip to TZ is very far from enough for researchers from the Norwegian side – particularly with 4 projects – strangely divided into 25% funding for each! * Time is not suffisient on my side (25%) * Arranged meetings should be planned well ahead of time and preferably not in late December or Mid-July. *.

(8) * The aim of our research in CCIAM should have. been focused on the efforts of the NGO receiving the REDD money. However, this has not been followed up in most cases in selecting research projects. * In my opinion the REDD money should have been given to strengthen the TZ extension service rather than NGOs. * In my opinion the success of the program will depend on how well the results are being implemented – which depends largely on the extension services in TZ. *.
