Learning outcomes

On successful completion of the course, the student has acquired the following learning outcome:

Knowledge The candidate

• has broad knowledge of different procedures in 3D modelling

• has broad knowledge of processes, tools and methods in 3D modelling

• has knowledge of anatomy related to organic modelling

• has knowledge of optimisation of the topology of an organic 3D model

• has knowledge of surface shaders and the use of textures to control them

• has knowledge of making high quality textures to control different aspects of surface shaders

• has knowledge of posing and composition of characters for still photos

• has knowledge of lighting and rendering

• is acquainted with 3D modelling for games

• is acquainted with texturing of 3D models for games Skills

The student

• is able to model organic 3D models

• is able to use different tools to make organic 3D models and understand and make use of how they interact

• is able to sculpture organic models

• knows basic anatomy related to organic modelling

• is able to make textures and use them to control different aspects of surface shaders (through drawing and composition in 2D and 3D tools)

• is able to create credible surfaces through the use of surface shaders and textures

• is able to create interesting poses and compositions

• is able to light and render models in order to create high quality still photos

• is able to model and texture 3D elements for use in games General competence

• is able to use 3D software at a high technical level

• has insight into relevant issues and is able to contribute in a professional discussion for good organic modelling

The course is organised as a combination of lectures, self-study, practical exercises and supervision.

• Portfolio assessment consisting of two individual assignments
