Announcement of a scholarship for 3 month’s stay in Nepal,

For PhD students/research fellows at the Faculty of Medicine, University of Oslo

Department of Adult Psychiatry at Division of Mental Health and Addiction has been awarded a grant for a newly established NORPART project, COMENTH - Collaboration in Higher Education in Mental Health between Nepal and Norway, between the Tribhuvan University in Nepal, and the University of Oslo in Norway.

Tribhuvan University is the largest pioneer academic institution in Nepal, and has in total 400,000 enrolled students. The major focus of this NORPART collaboration is exchange of experiences and academic partnerships in research and education through mobility of students and teachers. We are looking for a PhD student for an exchange stay for three months in Nepal, during the second semester in 2019.

The NOPRPART project will provide scholarship and cover travel expenses. We will offer a good academic, social and cultural environment at the Department of Psychiatry and Mental Health, in Katmandu, Nepal. You will be connected with other PhD students in Kathmandu, and there will also be an opportunity to participate in clinical and different research activities and joint seminar/courses, depending on your interest. If this sounds suitable for you, we kindly request you to send us a short CV (maximum two pages), a letter of motivation and a recommendation letter from your supervisor/employer.

Level: PhD student/research fellow

Requirements: Registration as a PhD student at the Faculty of Medicine, UiO.

Field: Involvement in project(s) in mental health/psychiatry/global mental health.

Contents: Workshops, seminar, fieldwork, observation work, guidance, teaching, writing.

Scholarship: 10 000 NOK per month, equals a total of 30 000 NOK.

Travel expenses: Coverage up to 16 000 NOK.

Period: Flexible start between August 1st and October 1st 2019.

Duration: 3 months.
